  • This session provides an introduction to the principles of discourse analysis and critical discourse analysis, with an emphasis on how these approaches can be applied in research practice. It explains how discourse analysts study language and meaning-making as social processes and how critical discourse analysis connects discourse to power relations, hierarchy, and political or institutional contexts. The lecture also outlines core analytical steps, typical sources of data, and practical strategies for using these methods to examine how issues, actors, and events are framed and contested.
