The required extent of knowledge for the final exam is determined by the textbook, the content of lectures and seminars, and the list of exam questions.
Pathophysiology course consists of 2 lecture per week in winter semester (WS), 1 lecture per week in summer semester (SS), and 1 seminar per week and 1 seminar every other week in both WS and SS (see schedule).

Take place at the Institute of Pathological Physiology, U Nemocnice 5, Prague 2, in the seminar rooms. Weekly seminars are taught by study group teachers. Every other week seminars are aimed to selected diseases or individual pathologic conditions.
With the consent of the study group teacher, student can exceptionally attend seminars with another group. The written request should be submitted to teaching assistant Ms. Radmila Korhoňová ().

Dear students,
essays will be submitted via MOODLe in the Corona course and you will learn the information in time.
-
During each semester two credit tests are to be written.
The test for first and second test will take place at the address: U Nemocnice 4, 128 00 Praha 2 (the building of libery opposite at the Departure of the Pathophysiology). The instractions for summer semester will be take to webside at the begining before summer semester.
- bring your student ID card or index to verity your identity
- when you write test you will know your username and password to Central authorization system (CAS) UK, this username and password is same at SIS.
The tests are “multiple choice”. Each test contains 20 questions and at least one answer is correct for each question. Individual answers are evaluated separately. Student receives a point for each correct answer with maximum of 100 percent for each question. To pass the credit test limit is one of the criteria for pathophysiology credit at the end of the semester (see Limits at the bottom of the page and Credit requirements for individual semesters on the following pages). Time limit for the test is 25 min. Count down is started when you start the test. When time expires your open attempts are submitted automatically.
Students who cannot attend the credit test seminar (illness or other serious excuses) can take the test during scheduled alternative test dates within two weeks from the test week. Students have to sign for alternative test dates. Contact: .
Limits:
– Credit test limit > 70 % (in each test of the semester)
– Exam test limit > 70 %

Each student should present a written essay as part of their pathophysiology course. The topics are to be selected during the winter semester. Essay should be turned in at the beginning of the summer semester. Group teacher can offer to summarize content of a chosen scientific paper instead of writing an essay. Essays should be submitted through the SIS.
-
-
-
During the pathophysiology course, each student should present a selected topic from molecular medicine. A short presentation (5-8 minutes) should focus on the molecular mechanisms of pathologic conditions.
Students will choose topics for presentations during the winter semester. Presentations are coordinated by group teacher.
-
-
-
Credit Requirements for Winter Semester (WS):
– Passing the limit in both semester tests (see limits on the General Medicine page)
– Sufficient attendance of the seminars
o Maximum two excused absences are allowed
o Insufficient attendance is handled individually by study group teacher (e.g. individual consultation and literature searches of missed topics and presentation)
o Long term absences (e.g. long term illness or internship) should be consulted with head of the department or the head of teaching
Student can sign for the exam term without credit from the subject. Student is not allowed to take exam in summer semester if he/she is not awarded credit for winter semester by the exam term.

Attention!!!
Seminars "K" - Interactive seminar (SIM) – Emergency medicine (practicum) is held at underground floor of the Institute of physiology 1.LF UK Albertov 5, 128 00, Praha 2
Credit Requirements for Summer Semester (SS):
– Passing the limit in both semester tests
– Sufficient attendance of the seminars
o Maximum two excused absence is allowed.
o Insufficient attendance is handled individually by study group teacher (e.g. individual consultation and literature searches of missed topics and presentation)
o Long term absences (e.g. long term illness or internship) should be consulted with head of the department
– Oral presentation of selected molecular medicine topic
– Submission of pathophysiology essay or article summary of sufficient quality
Student can sign for the exam term without credit from the subject. Student is not allowed to take exam in summer semester if he/she is not awarded credit for winter semester or/and summer semester by the exam term.

The required extent of knowledge for the final exam is determined by the textbook, the content of lectures and seminars and the list of the exam questions. The pathophysiology lectures and seminars do not cover all the topics required for the exam entirely. We expect students are able to apply knowledge gained while studying other subjects. Also we expect students to acquire part of the knowledge by studying individually.
Pathophysiology exam 2019/2020 (Information for students)
Due to the possibility of examining students remotely on-line, because of travel restrictions or quarantine measures, we modified the method of pathological physiology exams in the academic year 2019/2020 as follows.
The exam consists of 3 parts:
1. Pathophysiological analysis of symptoms, clinical signs and laboratory results based on a case report or question from Part III. (Case studies as questions).
2. General pathological physiology (Part I.) 1 question.
3. Pathological physiology of organ systém diseases (Part II.) 2 questions.
4. During the remote examination, students answer the questions immediately after the draw.
The written test is not part of the pathological physiology exam in the academic year 2019/2020
In case of any changes in the date or time of the examination, students will be informed by e-mail.
Student who wants to be examined remotely must register for a term in which distance examination is allowed and must inform the Institute of his / her intention no later than 48 hours before the examination.
Resit terms
– Student has the right for one exam date and two retake dates (total 3 terms) during the exam period. Extraordinary retake is not permitted. If the student does not use the entire exam possibilities (3 terms) within the listed terms he/she does not have the right for special examination date (Law act: SZŘ UK čl. 6, odst. 16).
– Exams cannot be held after the last examination date in September. Special or "dean" examination dates after listed official last exam date are not allowed (Law act: SZŘ UK čl. 6, odst. 16).
Course of the exams
Each exam, retake as well, consists of three parts.
1. Practical part of the exam
– Will be tested in the form of short case reports.
– Student will explain pathological deviations, suggests a diagnosis or further investigations after he/she reviews a short medical history and examination results of the patient.
2. Oral exam
– Consists of 3 questions (1 general pathophysiology, 2 organ pathophysiology).
– Student who resits the exam for second time (third term) is examined by the committee of at least two examiners.
