    • Hi everybody,

it would be great if you could read, for today, the exchange between Elizabeth and Descartes,

as well as what follows. I had already uploaded this on the upper part of moodle but thought that,

perhaps, it is better to put in on the today page too.

      See you Thursday,

      Anna

    • Hi everybody,

as today assignment, it is perfect if you read the texts from ST Ia q. 75 that you find in the last

handout. Even more perfect, if you give a try Aquinas' text directly: I updload q. 75 in the translation by A. Freddoso.

I am looking forward to have feedback from you, how you find it, if it is accessible for you or not.

Otherwise, I can also provide you with Pasnau's translation of Aquinas "treatise on human being" (= ST Ia, qq. 75-89).

In the upper part of moodle, among texts, you'll find a very clear piece of literature by Pasnau concerning hylomorphism

and my power point on Aristotle's on the soul as well.

Also, I upload here, in the today page (31rst October) the poster of Prof. Pasnau's lectures:

I recall you, you are most warmly invited to come.

      Best,

      Anna

    • this is the text we read!

    • This text we will read it together the next time.

  • 7.11.2019

    Dear Students,

I just wanted to recall you that for today there was no further assignments,

but the complete reading of our last time handout, which was very dense.

    We will start from there.

    Best, and see you tomorrow,

    Anna

  • 14.11.2019

    Hi everybody,

the today assignment will be that of reading the article 1 of quaestio 76 of Summa Theologiae.

You have the text at disposal in the upper part of moodle.

Also, if you need, you can use the commentary to this question by Robert Pasnau

Treatise on Human Nature, which you find in our library.

    Best,

    Anna

    • I had already posted it, a couple of classes before, but I repost it

in case you do not find it.

Plese read ONLY the quaestio 76, the article 1, and focus on the long Answer.

We'll move on tomorrow, but before will make the point on it.

  • 21.11.2019

    • This is the text on the separate soul by Aquinas. It is not an assignement, I think our last time handout is enough, but if you are curious to see what happens to the separate souls after that, the answer is (more detailed than my exposition on it of course).

      Best,

      Anna

  • 28.11.2019: Descartes on the union of soul and body

    Dear all,

For today, it would be great if, beside completing the reading of the last time handout,

you could read the following articles from the First Book of the Passions:

    1-10

    17-23

    30-31

As you will see, they are very short. We will talk about the Book I, so it would be great

if, before then, you could read them.

    Best,

    Anna

  • 5.12.2019

  • 19.12.2019: seminar by Marek Kettner

  • 9.1.2020: Course's Conclusions

    Dear all,

I today mention the book by Giorgio Colli, La natura ama nascondersi, published in Italy by Adelphi.

You have a French translation (editions de l'eclat), a Spanish version (Ediciones Siruela), I was

unable to find an English one. There might be a German.

In French you also have the Sagesse grecque, namely the 3 vols. book he wrote on the Praesocratic

    philosophers.

Thank you for visiting my course, it has been a pleasure having you!

    Best regards,

    Anna
