  • Week 1: 17/02/2021 - Introduction

    Please get hold of a copy (paper or electronic) of the core textbook for this course - Complete IELTS Bands 4-5 with Answers - as soon as possible. It is also available in the Karolinum Bookstore in Celetná. (Do not worry, it is not necessary to have it for the very first lesson)

    Textbook activity:

    Reading: For Week 2 please: do ex.3 on p. 8 and ex. 5 on p.9

    Vocabulary: Before you read, practice some of the key vocabulary from p. 8 in the short moodle exercise

    Writing: Answer questions 1-3 in exercise 7. Give reasons for your answers. Do not write more than 200 words.

    Listening: Revision of spelling. Practice spelling your full name and address. Do ex. 5 on p. 10. Check your answer with the key.

  • Week 2 - 24/02/2021 - Unit 1

    In-class activity: (Zoom)

    We are going to do the following during the lesson, you do not need to look at it in advance.

    Focus on Reading pp. 8-9 ex 1-6 and p. 11, ex. 1-4

    Focus on Vocabulary: p. 12 ex.1-3

    Fouc on Key Grammar: p. 14 - Present simple and present continuous ex. 1-4, rules on p. 120.

    • Read more about happiness measurements in the world.

      Try to find some interesting data. I am going to ask some of you to report about it at the beginning of the following lesson.

    • Do ex. 8 on p. 20 and submit your answers to the questions in ex. 9.

  • Week 3 - 03/03/2021 - Unit 2

      Write your answer to the rubric on p.25, ex. 7-9. Deadline: 10/03/2021 - 10:00 am

      Write 220-250 words.

      Make sure you answer the question in the rubric: What do you think were the advantages and disadvantages of living in a small community? It means you write about the past, not about the current situation in large cities. 

      Name your uploaded file like this: essay1_Name

      Don't forget to set your document language into English - to prevent spelling mistakes. 

      Don't forget to organize your ideas in paragraphs (3-5). Indent the first line of each paragraph OR insert a space between the paragraphs.

      Take this test only after you complete the Vocabulary and Grammar Review on pp.26-27.

      In order to pass the test you need to get 60% of correct answers, i.e. 22 points out of 36.
