In-Class (Zoom) Work:
-
1) Any questions relating to the previous week's work, especially present perfect tense
2) Finishing the activity from the previous week - writing: First part of the feedback - Correct the common mistakes from the essays (see the material below)
3) U4 Writing pp. 44-45
4) U5 - Countable and Uncountable Nouns - Key Grammar p. 56 and Grammar Reference p. 126 + extra material (see bellow)
The plan for this week is unit 5. However, the topic of this unit is not in particular for human studies, therefore, it is not such a big problem if we skip most of it. If you want to look at the sections we skip, you can, of course, and if you have any questions related to that, you can ask. Our focus will be mainly the grammar - countable and uncountable nouns.

Material for the Zoom lesson on 24/03/2021:
-
You need the material from the previous week - Essay Evaluation - Common mistakes - because we did not manage to finish it in the previous lesson. Have it, therefore, ready.
There are some extra materials needed for this lesson/week on Countable and Uncountable nouns:
1) Source: Prodromou, L. Grammar and Vocabulary for FCE. Longman: 2005
2) Source: Murphy, R. English Grammar in Use. CUP: 2012

On-line Work for Week 6:
-
The main focus of this week's online work is the grammar practice - Countable and Uncountable Nouns. However, before you start with this practice do also the following:
1) Take the revision test Units 3+4
2) A little practice of listening comprehension - p. 50 ex. 2 (try to think about the question "What information do you need for each gap?" because it will help you with spotting the words you need for the answers) and ex. 3 (find the recording bellow and then enter the answers into the Complete IELTS - Unit 5 - Exercises from the online work which you find at the end of this section).
3) Countable and Uncountable Nouns Practice - you will need the extra materials (Grammar and Vocabulary for FCE and English Grammar in Use) plus there is a link to Cambridge Dictionary which you need to study as well (very short and simple) with one exercise.
3a) Study the example vocabulary in the material Countable and Uncountable Nouns: Promodrou, L. Grammar and Vocabulay for FCE. Longman: 2005 on pp. 212, 213 and 214 and do the exercises 2 and 3 on page 215 - then enter the answers to Complete IELTS - Unit 5 - Exercises from the online work at the end of this section.
3b) Look again at the material Countable and Uncountable Nouns: Murphy, R. English Grammar in Use. CUP: 2012 and do the exercises 69.2 and 69.3 on page 139 - then enter the answers to Complete IELTS - Unit 5 - Exercises from the online work at the end of this section.
3c) Go to the Cambridge Dictionary (see the link bellow) and then complete the Cambridge Dictionary Exercise.
-
Before you take this simple revision test Units 3+4, do the Vocabulary and Grammar Review on pp. 46-47. You do not need to enter the answers anywhere. This is just for you to practise before the test.
