1. What was new or interesting to you in the article on p. 71?
I was surprised that lying starts to happen the moment children learn to speak. I think the fact that small children start to lie once they can speak means that lying is something that humans naturally pick up instead of having to acquire by, for instance, imitating, which is totally different than what I've imagined before.
2. What things do people generally lie about?
People often lie about their feelings, personal opinions, financial status etc.
3. Why do people lie? What advantage do they gain from lying?
People lie to avoid punishment or criticism from other people. For instance, when we have done something wrong, we sometimes refuse to admit that we did it so that we don't have to take the consequence.
4. Are all lies equally wrong/ bad, or is lying sometimes justified?
Not all lies necessarily have to be bad. There are the so called "white lie", which is a harmless lie used to avoid hurting other people's feelings.
