It's nice to hear about someone who has had a positive experience with distance learning, because I've had the opposite. Again, it turns out that it depends on the attitude of the individual :). I have to say that it is inspiring that Catherine is extensively self taught online.
I found out, that when it cames to online learning, the audio works best for me. I like to listen to educational podcasts and do some manual work while I listen. It is a bit harder for me to pay attention to a videos but it also has some advantages, because we can see some pictures etc. I also have to agree with said anonymity that cames with online learning, it really can be more comfortable sometimes than going to school in person.
