2. Now, look the phrase up in the Longman dictionary. For now, do not use any other dictionary.

3. Let’s turn to a corpus. You will use the BNC again. Go to the BNC through the Phrases in English interface.
4. Choose Find concordances in the Grams menu, type the phrase as it were in the search box and press Enter. Study the concordance lines. Can you deduce the meaning/function of this phrase form the citations?
