The aim of the subject is to show how modern diagnostic methods help to improve the level of care for children with malignant tumors and hematological disorders in daily practice. Students will be informed about the principles of modern diagnostics. Interactive presentations of the case-reports will illustrate the importace of modern diagnostics in differential diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Day 1: Non-oncological hematology. Flow cytometry. Whole exome sequencing. Case-reports.
Day 2: Next Generation Sequencing in diagnosis of leukemia and solid tumors. Principle of methods, clinical application.
Day 3: Brain tumors, palliative care.
Day 4: Solid tumors – case-reports. Late effects of treatment. Survivorship.
Day 5: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation – case-reports, indications, complications.
