This course is a seminar that examines the relationship between brain structure, function and behaviour across the lifespan in both typical development and in the context of neurological and psychiatric conditions.
The course progresses from foundational frameworks for classifying and assessing neurobehavioural functioning through typical development in childhood, adolescence, and cognitive ageing, to attentional and cognitive control systems, neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety and OCD, and neurodegenerative conditions. Each session is grounded in empirical readings, and seminars combine discussion of theoretical models with hands-on exercises and critical evaluation of research. By the end of the course, students will be able to read and evaluate empirical publications in the neurobehavioural sciences and to connect neuroscientific evidence to applied psychological practice.
