This is a one-semester course taught 1x2 lessons per week. The course assumes 26 face-to-face lessons and about 50 hours of self-study (3 credits).
The objective of the course is to develop and consolidate students' language skills so that they can pass the compulsory exam in English B2 level in the next exam period.
The course focuses on practicing the exercises that the exam consists of (listening, reading, use of English, and writing), enhancing appropriate vocabulary, and preparing for the speaking part of the exam—text selection, interpretation, and translation.The course aims to develop language and communication skills so that students can successfully pass the English language exam at B2 level.
By the end of the course, students should ideally be able to speak fluently about topics in their field of study and use appropriate English language terms, express the content of academic texts in their own words, write a shorter, appropriately structured academic text in which they develop several ideas and defend their point of view, distinguish and apply informal and formal styles in written communication, and choose appropriate English language words.Students will be awarded 3 credit points for the course if they meet the following requirements:
