Ted Talks - Carole Cadwalladr: "Facebook's role in Brexit - and the threat to democracy"

    • This lesson was again face-to-face lesson and we tried to have a hybrid lesson, hopefully the ones who were online did get something from the discussions. I am once again sorry for forgetting to turn on the microphone and hope it will be better next time. More honestly, I hope we will not need it for too long. :-) Thank you for your patience.

Topicwise, the lesson followed the previous one on listening - Carole Cadwalladr: Facebook's role in Brexit - and the threat to democracy.

      1) 5-minute talks

      2) Summing up the video we worked with via Zoom in the previous week.

      3) Discussing the suggested questions/raising some more questions, watching the trailer to Great Hack and then just the beginning of the video - Cambridge Analytica Uncovered: Secret filming reveals election tricks. There are some more videos you can watch if you are intersted a bit more in this topic and would like to see more sources. You, of course, are encouraged to look for your own which is something, I believe, we all need to do if we want to get closer to the truth.

    • Some useful links to the topic:

    • Cambridge Analytica exists no more. However, does this mean we needn't be worried, we needn't be careful with what we believe and believe in, we needn't search for more sources before we accept something that appears on the interent, on the social networks as true?
