Tito

Josip Broz (7 May 1892 – 4 May 1980), commonly known as Tito, was the leader of Yugoslav communist resistance movement called Partisans and statesman until his death in 1980. During IWW the partisan movement was regarded as the most effective resistance movement in occupied Europe beacuse of his leadership. After war the became key figure in politics of YU and beloved by majority of citizens who percieved him as a father of the nation and he beacame the symbol of Yugoslavia. Although his presidency has authoritarian characteristics because of the repression of political opponents, he was largery popular and influental in European and World politics. Viewed as a unifying symbolhis internal policies maintained the peaceful coexistence of the nations of the Yugoslav federation. He gained further international attention as the chief leader of the Non-Aligned Movement.
