Your notes on Ada are fascinating, opening new approaches also for me. I think that your elaboration upon the meaning of "telling stories" and ensuing happiness is a very rewarding way of interpretation.

On Hemingway: it is crucial and very true what you say about viewpoints: "but it favors none, showing the ambiguity and moral judgement (if one is to be made) on the reader." As for Up in Michigan, I´d like to know more about what you mean by a deliberate play with focalization... I myself think it is a deliberately cruel pla with Liz´s point of view.
