5.3.1 Supervision Framework

Working under supervision is a part of academic studies and career. Supervision in academic environment means students working independently under teacher’s guidance. 

At the same time, how precisely the rules for supervision are set, how the rights and obligations of all actors are defined, can differ significantly. Sometimes the rules are clear, sometimes you may rather encounter "good practice" that is passed between the supervisor and the student.

Assignment

You will work individually. Your task will be to compile basic guidelines for supervision in the academic environment. What do you consider important? What should not be missing? You should definitely cover the areas below: 

• role of supervisor
• supervisor’s responsibilities
• student’s responsibilities and demands on students
