ENVIRONMENTAL PILLAR of sustainable development

This pillar is based on ecology, especially on ecology of populations.

You should know these terms:

population, birth rate, mortality, density, growth, competition, (between individuals of the same species and between individuals of different species), self-regulating ability of ecosystem, ecological balance and  ecosystem capacity limit.

and explain them in context.

Your task:

  1. You can find the terms on wikipedia or in the sources to which I have shared links (Khan academy).
  2. Think and write three examples from the life of animals or plants when ecosystems capacity limits for the species are manifested.
  3. Study the development of the human population and think about it in an environmental context. See for example here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population
  4. See on worldometer https://www.worldometers.info/
  5. See on Limits of the Growth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Limits_to_Growth and
  6. Write essay "How does the human population differ from that of other species? What are our options to avoid exceeding the limits." In your own words.1 – 3 pages. If you have no experience with writing essays, first look at how a professional essay is written, what its rules are, etc.
