 Tutorial Reflection (5 points)

Directions: Use one of the prompts described below to write a reflection paper. Your reflection will be due on Thursday, March 12 by 9:00 a.m. This is an individual assignment.

Deliverable: Your Tutorial Reflection will be submitted as a Word or Google document within the Assignment area in Moodle.

  • Think of a tutorial you have used in the past; 

    • Describe the tutorial, what the topic was, what type of design was used (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Discuss what learning knowledge type(s) the tutorial targeted (refer back to the Knowledge Types table (Table 1.1) in Rempel & Slebodnik, 2015) (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Discuss what kind(s) of learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, humanism) the tutorial used (or didn’t use) and why you think this; (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe the instructional strategies this tutorial used (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe what your actual engagement was with this tutorial (i.e., at the most basic level - did you enjoy the tutorial? Did you learn what you were hoping to learn?). (at least 1 paragraph)

  • Find a tutorial you have not used before, watch or read through the tutorial;

    • Describe the tutorial, what the topic was, what type of design was used (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Discuss what learning knowledge type(s) the tutorial targeted (refer back to the Knowledge Types table (Table 1.1) in Rempel & Slebodnik, 2015) (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Discuss what kind(s) of learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, humanism) the tutorial used (or didn’t use) and why you think this; (at least 1 paragraph)

  • Reflect on the kinds of tutorials you tend to watch and why you gravitate to those types of tutorials

    • List and briefly describe the types of tutorials you prefer to use (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe elements of behaviorism that impact your tutorial choices (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe elements of cognitivism that impact your tutorial choices (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe elements of constructivism that impact your tutorial choices (at least 1 paragraph)

    • Describe humanism elements that impact your tutorial choices (at least 1 paragraph)

      • Refer back to the Arghode et al. article for definitions and examples of behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism
