1. Choose one typical area of public interventions (like health, education, social care, labour policies, transport policies etc.).

Write one page concise essay (250-350 words) that will provide arguments that in the chosen area the situation significantly changed over the last few decades that it is not simple nor complicated system anymore and that governments have to act here as if in complex domain and that collective power and civic results are necessary here to tackle the major problems here.

2. Choose one typical area of public interventions (like health, education, social care, labour policies, transport policies etc.).

Write one page concise essay (250-350 words) that will provide arguments that in the chosen area the situation is pretty similar over the last few decades and that governments can just with minor adjustments continue their policies as in 20th century where state authority is sufficient to deliver necessary public results necessary here to tackle the major problems here.

Notes for both tasks:

- You can choose the area broadly (eg. health care in general) or narrow it down (eg. hospital in my city).

- You can decide to use the same or different areas for both tasks.

- Make sure you properly understand and use terms complicated and complex (in Snowden's meaning) and terms collective power, state authority, civic results and public results (in Bourgon's meaning).

- Submit both essays as one file named "HW1_YourSurname".
