This course explores the challenge of disinformation in the digital age. A foundation in the sociology of knowledge and post-truth theories offers a framework for understanding its dynamics. Students examine psychological and sociological factors - such as cognitive biases and declining media trust - that increase individuals’ vulnerability to disinformation. Special attention is given to its strategic use by state actors like Russia and China, as well as emerging threats like deepfakes and AI-generated content. By the end, students will be prepared to identify, analyse, and counter disinformation while fostering responsible communication.
