Introductory Video and Presentation with Comments

This week's focus is on Unit 7 in our coursebook and its topic is "Travel".

This week's presentation presents the grammar from Unit 7 in our coursebook, in particular prediction and expressions with some-, any-, every-, no-.

The presentation takes about 35 minutes and already includes some practice, so it means that it can take you longer as you might need more time for completing the tasks you are asked to. Make sure, you have the material for printing ready before you start the presentation.

If you want to return to the presentation, there are approximate times of the "sections".

Exercises B1 - Unit 7

Let's now practise the introduced issues. There are 3 exercises.

1) Prediction - short answers and multiple choice, time limit of 20 minutes.
2) some-, any-, every-, no- - multiple choice and drag and drop, time limit of 20 minutes.
3) some-, any-, every-, no- + listening and reading - multiple choice, drag and drop and short answers, there is no time limit due to the listening.

Take the exercises in this given order. You need to pass all of them - 60% of correct answers.

Nyní si probranou látku procvičme. Máte zde 3 cvičení.

1) Predikce - vpisované odpovědi a výběr z možností, časový limit 20 minut.
2) some-, any-, every-, no- - výběr z možností, přetažení do textu, časový limit 20 minut.
3) some-, any-, every-, no- + poslech a čtení, výběr z možností, přetažení do textu, vpisované odpovědi, časový limit není vzhledem k poslechovým částem.

Doporučuji vypracovávat cvičení v daném pořadí. Je třeba získat minimálně 60 % správných odpovědí u všech cvičení.

There are audioscripts plus the recordings for the listening from the exercise 3 for you to learn and practice the listening and undestanding a bit more. The two recordings and the audiocripts open after you successfully pass the exercise 3.

Week 6 - Unit 7 - Vocabulary

- vocabulary: transport
- vocabulary: holidays
- vocabulary: -ed and -ing adjectives

In this vocabulary section there are three topics. You do not need to complete all of them at once and you do not need to follow the order in which they are presented here. There is also some practice so follow the instructions givin within the single topics.

V této sekci se slovní zásobou jsou tři témata. Nemusíte všechna témata zpracovat najednou a nemusíte je zpracovávat v tom pořadí, ve kterém jsou zde řazeny. Součástí témat je i procvičoní, proto v jednotlivých tématech postupujte dle instrukcí.

- vocabulary: transport

This part practises the vocabulary with the focus on transport. The exercises are again taken from our coursebook - Navigate B1. There is a bit of listening and some reading.

There is only one exercises - Exercise 4 - Navigate B1 - Unit 6 - Vocabulary - Transport. There is no time limit, because there is some listening and reading.

V této části si procvičíte slovní zásobu k témtu doprava. Cvičení jsou opět z naší učebnice - Navigate B1. Procvičuje se trošku poslech a čtení.

Máte zde jen jedno cvičení - Exercise 4 - Navigate B1 - Unit 6 - Vocabulary - Transport. Není nastaven časový limit, protože ve cvičení je poslech a čtení.

- vocabulary: holiday

The material for this topic are a YouTube video - Holiday and Travelling Vocabulary in English with a handout.

Instructions:

1) Print the handout. (It is six pages in total, but you can print two pages on one sheet, if you want to).

2) Look at the vocabulary listed in the handout - it is vocabulary taken from the YouTube video you are going to watch.they are orderd in the order in which the words/phrases appear in the video. Go through the list and complete is with Czech translations of the words you already know. If possible, add also the pronunciation.

3) Watch the video with the handout and try to complete the list with the rest of the translations. (Make sure the subtitles are turned off, at least during the first listening.) Also add the pronunciation according to what you hear.

4) If there are still some words you do not know and/or aren't sure what they mean, go to the Dictionary where you find the complete list.

Please, try to do your best without any help of either the subtitles in the YouTube video and/or the Dictionary which is provided within this course. If you try to cheat, you cheat yourself only.

Materiálem pro toto téma jsou video z YouTube - Holiday and Travelling Vocabulary in English a pracovní listy.

Instrukce:

1) Vytiskněte si pracovní list/y. (Jedná se celkem o 6 stran, ale můžete si vytisknout dvě stránky na jeden list, pokud chcete.)

2) Podívejte se na slovíčka, která jsou na pracovních listech - jsou to slovíčka z videa z YouTube, na které se později podíváte. Slovíčka jsou řazena polde toho, jak se objevují ve videu. Projděte si tento seznam a doplňte české překlady k těm slovíčkům, která už znáte. Pokud se vám to podaří, doplňte si i výslovnost.

3) Podívejte se na video a mějte při ruce pracovní listy a pokuste se doplnit zbytek překladů. (Ujistěte se, že máte vypnuté titullky, minimálně během prvního poslechu.) Také si doplňte výslovnsot, kterou slyšíte.

4) Pokud jsou stále některá slovíčka, u kterých si nejste překladem jistí, podívejte se do slovníčku, kde kompletní seznam najdete.

Prosím, snažte se pracovat co nejlépe bez pomoci buď titulků na YouTube a/nebo seznamu slovíček ve slovníčku, který je součástí tohoto kurzu. Pokud budete zkoušet podvádět, povdádíte pouze sebe.

- vocabulary: -ed and -ing adjectives

This is the final part of the vocabulary section and it focuses on the adjectives ending in -ed and -ing. There is an explanation with handout. Prepare the handout and then watch the video. After watching the video, you can go to the Dictionary where you find a number of adjectives. And in the end you have one exercise - Exercise 5 - Vocabulary: -ed and -ing adjectives with several tasks from two different sources - Navigate B1 and English Grammar in Use.

Poslední část sekce zabývající se slovní zásobou se zaměřuje na přídavná jména končící na -ed a -ing. Nejprve je zde vysvětlení spolu s pracovními listy. Připravte si pracovní listy a podívejte se na video. Poté si můžete otevřít slovník, kde je řada dalších přídavných jmen. Nakonec zde máte cvičení Exercise 5 - Vocabulary: -ed and -ing adjectives s několika úkoly ze dvou různých zdrojů - Navigate B1 a English Grammar in Use.

Advice and Tips: How to check into a hotel (listening and speaking)

This time you have here a similar activity to the vocabulary section on holiday.

You will watch and listen to a YouTube video: Learn English for hotel tourism: "Checking into a hotel"; English course by Lingua TV. 

Before you watch the video, open the handout where there is some vocabularyfrom the video listed. While watching/listening to the video, try to complete it with your notes and translations. If you need help, go to the Dictionary.

Tentokrát zde máte podobnou aktivitu jako v sekci slovní zásoby - prázdniny.

Podíváte se a poslechnete si video z YouTube: Learn English for hotel tourism: "Checking into a hotel"; English course by Lingua TV.

Předtím, než si video pustíte, si stáhněte handout, ve kterém je seznam slovíček z videa. Během sledování/poslechu videa se snažte doplnit si poznámky a překlady. Pokud budete potřebovat pomoct, jděte do slovníčku.

University Life - writing: short notes and messages

At first look at the exercise 6 which is not really an exercise. It will show you how to write short notes and messages.

Than have a look at the exercise 7 - which is a writing assignment. You will find an exercise taken from the Navigate B1 coursebook and all you need to do is to cross out the words to make short notes and messages and then upload it back.

Nejprve se podívejte na cvičení 6, což vlastně není úplně cvičení. Spíše vám ukáže, jak psát krátké poznámky a zprávy.

Poté se podívejte na cvičení 7 - což je úkol psaní. Ve cvičení najdete cvičení z učebnice Navigate B1 a vše, co je vaším úkolem, je vyškrtnout slova tak, abyste vytvořili krátké poznámky  azprávy a poté ho nahrát zpět.

Na následující konzultaci si připravte následující materiály. Buď si je můžete vytisknout, pokud se vám lépe pracuje s papírovou verzí, nebo pokud se cítíte jistí v práci s elektronickou verzí, tisknout nemusíte.
