The aim of the course is to introduce students to some major works of English Literature from the end of the nineteenth century to the beginning of the twenty first century. Novel in particular dominates the content of the course. The course is taught through lectures and seminars; the lectures are prepared in order to offer a general social and cultural context for the course texts. The seminars should involve students in close reading and literary analysis of individual works.
