Young children learn in different ways and in many different spaces. The focus of this course is to encourage students to consider the features of these places and how they support young children’s holistic development as a foundation for future learning.

Students will be introduced to some historical pioneers of early childhood education and develop an understanding of some of the ways in which the past can inform teaching young children today. At the same time students will be encouraged to reflect upon their own practice and consider how they might become more aware of young children’s worlds today.

The course will be taught by Mr. Philip Selbie from the University of Plymouth (contact: philip.selbie@pedf.cuni.cz)
