1.2 Ethical Issues in Your Doctoral Thesis
From the brief introduction, you probably remember that research integrity is your active commitment to the ethical principles and professional standards of research. These principles and rules protect you, the participants of your research, other scientists, and the whole society. From the very beginning, we want you to think how the research ethics might apply to your thesis.
Assignment
1. First, enter a (preliminary) title of your thesis as a title of new post in this forum.
2. Describe briefly but concisely methodology of your thesis (state your research goal, describe research participants, data collection and analysis). Alternatively, copy and paste the preliminary abstract of your thesis (if available) into the body of the forum.
3. Then write a short response to this question: What ethical challenges might you encounter during data collection and writing your thesis? Reflect and list one to three possible challenges. Do not try to write a comprehensive list of all ethical issues related to your thesis. Are you worried about something?
We will return to this questions later after you will learn more about research ethics.
Note: If you do not know exact title and/or research design of your thesis yet, be imaginative and prepare an abstract for the research project you would like to complete.
