Hey y'all,
Our group is dealing with inequality and taxes on the state level in the United states. Inequality is a big topic in the U.S. and I'm sure you've all heard and read something about it, probably something about how inequality is on a steady rise in the U.S. and how something should be done about it. What we are focusing on in our study is something a bit different. We're looking at inequality expressed by the gini index in the 50 states and on the tax levels in the respetive states and we're looking for a correlation. You'll see what we have found out on Thursday. In the meantime please scan through some of these articles/documents, focus only on the disparities among the states (shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to get the basic idea):
Source 1: Inequality on state level on the rise
Source 2: Pulling apart: a state-by-state analysis
Source 3: Data for each state, select a state to download a pdf (ony if you are interested in specific states)
Thanks, see y'all on Thursday
