Please study the first part of this handout (most of you got it in class) - College and university system: the UK system. Read the text in B and prepare your answers to exercises 18.2 and 18.3.
For our next class, please prepare the pronunciation of the words on the 2nd page (Words of foreign origin; word formation and lexical stress and frequently mispronounced words.

Start looking for a text/talk/lecture material that you will introduce in the form of a short presentation to your classmates. Prepare a handout with 10-15 keywords from the presentation with their definitions. I can multiply the handout for you if you send it in advance. The presentation dates will be assigned on October 29.
I strongly recommend this app for your computers - it will help you to get rid of most basic mistakes.
For our next class on November 5, please find a scholarly text/lecture/video that you are going to present to your colleagues. Bring a copy or link or your notes to class - you are going to introduce your choice to me in a short individual in-class consultation. Also, I would like to draw your attention to the aforementioned Academic Word List challenge (See Topic 1!). We'll try a short in-class quiz comprising the first 3 sublists! GO FOR IT!!!
