    • Download the file and learn to read the transcribed text fluently (as if it were a normal text).

    • Vowel definitions – specify the vowel with the following parameters.

    • Vowel definitions – specify the parameters of the following vowels.

    • 1) Open your files. In the TextGrid (TG), create a new point tier called „vowels“. (Tier > Add point tier > position = 1, name = vowels)

      2) Find 20 vowels from across your recording, especially those that you suspect are not pronounced correctly.

      3) For each chosen vowel:

      • Insert a new point, into which you can write comments.
      • Analyze your pronunciation. If it differs from the expected English vowel, say why. Add a short commentary about your pronunciation of the sound. For example, the point label might look like this: "ɑː - too front", "æ - not open enough, too long".

Do not focus on one specific vowel. Make your sample balanced and interesting so that especially the difficult vowels are included.

Don't forget to save your TG!
