Introductory Video and Presentation with Comments

This week's topic is the world. As always we are going to start with the introductory video which deals a bit with environmental issues. You are aslo provided with the video script, which you should open first after you watch it without it.

For the grammar issues there are two presentation - one is for the 2nd conditionals and the other one for the structure "used to". However, the presenation on conditionals had to be devided into two parts due to the size of the file. So proceed as follows:

1) Introductory video + video script

2) Introductory presentation with comments - 2nd Conditionals - Part 1 and Part 2 - Watch after each other, do not make any breaks. + There is only one material for printing for both parts of the presentation.

3) Introductory presentation with comments - used to + the material for printing.

Both presentations can get longer becuase there is some listening (conditionals) and reading (used to) so you can take as much time as possible. There are also audioscripts for the listenings in the presentation on conditionals.

It is up to you if you watch both parts of the conditionals and then pracitse in the following section with the exercises and then return to the presentation on used to. Or if you watch both presentations (conditionals and used to) and then prectise with Exercises 1 and 2.

Téma tohoto týdne je svět. Jako vždy začneme s úvodním videem, ve kterém se objevují témata k životnímu prostředí. Také zde máte přepis videa, které byste si ale měli otevřít až poté, co shlédnete video bez přepisu.

Co se gramatických jevů týče, tak jsou zde dvě prezentace - jedna představuje tzv. druhý kondicionál a ta druhá strukturu "used to". Prezentace ke koncidiálům je ale rozdělena do dvou částí, kvůli velikosti. Tak postupujte takto:

1) Úvodní video + přepis

2) Úvodní prezentace s komentářem - Druhý kondicionál - Část 1 a Část 2 - Sledujte obě části těsně po sobě, nedělejte mezi nimi přestávky. + Máte zde materiál k tisku, který je společný pro obě části.

3) Úvodní prezentace s komentářem - used to + materiál k tisku

Obě prezentace se mohou časově prodloužit, protože v té první je poslech a v té druhé čtení, takže si můžete dopřát tolik času, kolik budete potřebovat. Také zde máte přepisy k poslechům v prezentaci ke kondicionálům.

Záleží na vás, jak si práci rozvhnete. Můžete ihned po shlédnutí obou částí prezentace ke kondiciálům přejít do následující sekce ke cvičení. Nebo můžete shlédnout obě prezentace a teprve poté přejít ke cvičením 1 a 2.

Exercises - Unit 11

There are two exercises:

Exercise 1 - practises the 2nd conditionals in three tasks.
Exercise 2 - pracitses used to in three tasks.

There are time limits, 2 attempts and you need to get at least 60% of correct answers.

Máte zde 2 cvičení:

Cvičení 1 - procvičuje druhý kondicionál ve třech úkolech.
Cvičení 2 - procvičuje used to ve třech úkolech.

Jsou nastaveny časové limity, 2 pokusy a musíte získat alespoň 60 % správných odpovědí.

Vocabulary

In this section there are 3 subsections.

1) There is a link to BBC Learning English - Vocabulary: News. There is no extra task. Look at the list of words and phrases on this website, read the definitions and try to figure out the meanings. Then check the your answers (translations/meanings) with the dictionary (see the link below).

2) There is a link to a YouTube video - Crown Academy of English: English listening test - Vocabulary from the news. This video does not work with words and phrases related to the vocabulary news and media but it works with words from the news. Your task here is to print (or open) the handout with the sentences and complete them according to the video. Then check the vocabulary with the dictionary (see the link below).

3) Exercise 3 - There are two tasks, both drag and drop. There is no time limit. You need to get at least 60% of correct answers. Before you start with the exercise, look and learn the vocabulary related to this part (see the link above the Exercise 3).

The purpose of this vocabulary section, as always, is that you broaden your vocaburaly, so cheating does not help anything. :-)

V této sekci jsou tři podsekce:

1) Máte zde odkaz na BBC Learning English - slovní zásobu: Zprávy. K tomuto materiálu není žádný zvláštní úkol. Podívejte se na seznam slovíček a frází na této webové stránce, přečtěte si definice a snažte se vydedukovat jejich význam. Poté si zkontrolujte své odpovědi (překlady/významy) se slovníčkem (viz odkaz níže).

2) Máte zde odakz na video na YouTube - Crown Academy of English: Poslechový test v angličtině - Slovní zásoba ze zpráv. Toto video úplně nepracuje se slovní zásobou vztahující se ke slovíčkům spojeným se zprávami a médii, ale pracuje se slovíčky ze zpráv. Vaším úkolem je vytisknout si (nebo otevřít) pracovní list s větami a doplnit chybějící slova do vět podle videa. Poté si zkontrolujte slovní zásobu se slovníčkem (viz odkaz níže).

3) Cvičení 3 - v tomto cvičení jsou 2 úkoly, obojí přetahování slov do textu. Není nastaven časový limit. Je třeba získat minimálně 60 % správných odpovědí. Před tím, než začnete se cvičením, podívejte se a naučte se slovní zásobu, která se vztahuje k této části (viz odkaz nad cvičením 3).

Cílem toto sekce k slovní zásobě, jako vždy, je to, abyste si rozšířili svou slovní zásobu, takže podvádění ničemu nepomáhá. :-)

At first there is a page with some information (including some listening) on the phrasal verbs. Open the page and study the materials from our coursebook Navigate B1 and listen to the recording which provides some information to these materials.

Then there is Exercise 4 - 2 tasks (drag and drop) from our coursebook Navigate B1, no time limit, but it is necessary to get at least 60% of correct answers.

Finally, there are copies from Essential Grammar in Use of phrasal verbs list for you to have another source for phrasal verbs.

If you are not sure about the meanings of the phrasal verbs used either in the exercise 4 or on the list from Essential Grammar in Use, go to the dictionary (see the link below).

Nejprve zde máte stránu s informacemi (včetně poslechu) k frázovým slovesm. Otevřete si stránku a prostudujte si materiály z naší učebnice Navigate B1 a poslechněte si nahrávku, která zprostředkovává informace z těchto materiálů.

Poté je zde cvičení 4 - jsou v něm dva úkoly (přetahování do obrázku a do textu) z učebnice Navigate B1, není nastaven časový limitk ale je třeba získat alespoň 60 % správných odpovědí.

Nakonec jsou zde kopie z Essential Grammar in Use seznamu frázových sloves, abyste měli další zdroj k této slovní zásobě.

Listening: understanding connected speech - common expressions

Exercise 5 – Listening: understanding connected speech – common expressions

This is not a common exercise (interactive). There are different tasks, materials and recordings for you to work on and listen to. As this is not an interactive exercise, you will find a key and audio scripts for the listening below this exercise. As always, try not to cheat and look at the key after you try at least once, twice.

Toto není běžné cvičení (interaktivní). Máte zde různé úkoly, materiály a nahrávky, se kterými budete pracovat a které budete poslouchat. Protože se nejdná o interaktivní cvičení, naleznete pod tímto cvičením klíč a přepisy nahrávek. Jako vždy, snažte se nepodvádět a podívejte se na klíč až poté, co si zkusíte projít cvičení alespoň jednou, dvakrát.

1) At first, open the handout for Exercise 5, or ideally print it so that you can make notes and write down the answers.

2) Open the page - Exercise 5 with the tasks, materials and recordings. Follow the instructions and go through everything.

3) Open the key with the audio scirpts and check your answers. Possibly, go back to the page with the audio scripts and listen again to the recordings with the text and practise listening once again.

1) Nejprve si otevřete pracovní list ke cvičení 5, nebo si jej ideálně vytiskněte, abyste si mohli dělat poznámky a zapisovat si odpovědi.

2) Otevřete si stránku - cvičení 5 s úkoly, materiály a nahrávkami. Postupujte dle instrukcí a vše si projděte.

3) Otevřete si klíč s přepisy nahrávek a zkontrolujte si své odpovědi. Případně se vraťte zpět ke stránce spolu s přepisy a znovu si přehrajte nahrávky tentokrát s textem a znovu si procvičete poslech.

Advice and Tips - expressing and responding to opinions (politely)

In this section of Advice and Tips you are going to find an Exercise 6 with materials, including listening and also some interactive tasks and vocabulary. You are going to learn something about how to express and respond to opinions and be polite. Go through the exercise, follow the instrcutions and complete all the tasks. There is no time limit and you need to get at least 60% of correct answers.

V této sekci Rad a Tipů najdete cvičení 6 s materiály, včetně nahrávek k poslechu, a také interaktivní úkoly a slovní zásobu. Naučíte se něco k tomu, jak vyjádřit a reagovat na názory a být při tom slušný. Projdte si celé cvičení, postupujte dle instrukcí a vypracujte úkoly. Časový limit není nastaaven a je třeba získat alespoň 60 % správných odpovědí.

University Life: A presentation

Presentations are important parts of our lives and it really doesn't matter what we actually do. Now, we are going to start slowly with the issue - how to prepare a slide (yes, only one will be enough now) for a presenation.

Prezentace jsou důležitou součástí našich životů a vlastně je jedno, co děláme. Nyní se začneme pomalu - jak připravit snímek (ano, jeden bude zatím stačit) pro naši preznetaci.

At first have a look at Exercise 7 - a presentation, and go through the tasks and materials. This is not an interactive exercise, so you are going to be thinking about the answers only and then you have the keys or rather suggested answers on the following pages. Try not to cheat as usual. There is no time limit and no result requirements.

Nejprve se podívejte na cvičení 7 - a presentation, a projděte si úkoly a materiály. Toto není interaktivní cvičení, takže se nad odpověďmi budete jen zamýšlet a poté budete mít na další straně klíč, nebo spíše navrhované odpovědi. Zkuste, jako obvykle, nepodvádět. Není nastavený časový limit a nejsou požadavky ohledně minimálího počtu bodů.

Exercise 8 is a sample slide with mistakes, your task will be to print the handout and correct the mistakes and then upload it back.

Cvičení 8 je úkázka snímku s chybami, vaším úkolem bude si vytisknout pracovní list a opravit tyto chyby a poté nahrát opravený snímek zpět.

Exercise 9 is your own practice - you are going to prepare your own slide on the given topic.

Cvičení 9 je procvičování - připravíte vlastní snímek na zadané téma.

Materials for the lesson (via Zoom) on Monday 13-12-2021

For the online consultation hours prepare the following materials. You can either print them, if you prefer working with paper version, or if you feel fine with the electronic version, you do not need to print. However, bear in mind that you will be working online which can complicate the work with e-version of the copy.

Na následující konzultaci si připravte následující materiály. Buď si je můžete vytisknout, pokud se vám lépe pracuje s papírovou verzí, nebo pokud se cítíte jistí v práci s elektronickou verzí, tisknout nemusíte. Nicméně, mějte na paměti, že budete pracovat online, což může práci s e-verzí kopie zkomplikovat.
