Introductory Video and Presentation with Comments

This week we are going (as always from now on) start with an introductory video. Watch the video. If you need there is also a tapescript that you can follow when watching the video. However, at first try without the tapescript.

Tento týden (ostatně jako každý následující týden) začneme s úvodním videem. Podívejte se na video. Pokud budete chtít/potřebovat níže je přepis, který můžete sledovat spolu s videem. Nejprve se ale zkuste na video podívat bez přepisu.

Then proceed to the presentation with comments. In this presentation there are examples from the video and explanations of the relevant grammar. 

Poté přejděte k prezentaci s komentáři (audiovýkladu). V této prezentaci jsou použity příklady z videa, na kterých je vysvětlena relevantní gramatika.

This week's presentation is devided into two parts, because there are two units. Unit 1 focuses on some revision - questions and present simple with adverbs of frequency/frequency expressions. Unit 2 also revise a bit - present simple x continuous, and it introduces some new grammar - defining relative clauses. Work with both parts of the presentation before you proceed to the exercises.

Prezentace tento týden je rozdělena na dvě části, protože pracujeme se dvěma lekcemi. Lekce 1 je zaměřena na trošku opakování - otázky a přítomný prostý čas s příslovci frekvence/výrazy frekvence. Lekce 2 také opakuje - přítomný prostý x průběhový čas a přináší novou gramatiku - definující vztažné věty. Projděte obě části prezentace před tím, než přejdete ke cvičením.

Exercises B1 - Units 1 and 2

In this section you are going to practise the grammar which was intruduced in the introductory video and the presentations with comments. There are 4 exercises, for each you need about half an hour of time. You also need to get 60% of correct answers and you have 2 attempts for each. So make sure you have enough time before you start the exercises.

V této sekci si procvičíte gramatiku, která byla představena v úvodním videu a v prezentacích s komentáři. Máte zde 4 cvičení, na každé budete potřebovat přibližně půl hodiny. Musíte získat 60 % správných odpovědí a máte dva pokusy na každé cvičení. Ujistěte se tedy, že máte dostatek času, než začnete cvičení dělat.

Vocabulary

In this subsection we are going to focus on vocabulary. There are materials and/or exercises through which you can learn (or revise) some new (or known) vocabulary on different topics. Then it is a lot about you because you need to learn the new words.

V této podkapitole se zaměříme na slovní zásobu. Naleznete zde materiály a/nebo cvičení, skrze která se naučíte (nebo zopakujete) novou (nebo známou) slovní zásobu k různým tématům. Poté je to už hodně o vás, protože vy se budete muset nová slovíčka naučit.

Free-time activities

At first have a look at the following video from YouTube (ca. 9 minutes), go to the dictionary in this course (see the link below).

YouTube enables you to turn on subtitles. Try to watch at first without the subtitles. If you do not udnerstand, or just to make sure you understand correctly, you can turn on the subtitles, of course. The settings of some videos also include the choice of different languages. If you find Czech/Slovak, turn it on only after the third/fourth watching. However, be careful, the subtitles are usually automatic, so "mistakes! can appear, nonsence words, e.g. if the spoken part of the video is really fast, there are linked words, swallowed syllables etc.

Nejprve se podívejte na následující video z YouTube (cca 9 minut), otevřete si slovníček v tomto kurzu (viz odkaz níže).

Na YouTube se můžete zapnout titulky. Zkuste se nejprve podívat bez titulků. Pokud nebudete rozumět, nebo pro kontrolu si poté titulky zapnout určitě můžete. V nastavení je u některých videí možnost vybrat si i jiný jazyk. Pokud byste našli češtinu/slovenštinu, tak tu si zapněte nejdříve až při třetím/čtvrtém poslechu. Pozor ale, titulky jsou povětšinou tvořené automaticky, takže se mohou objevit "chyby", zkomoleniny, např. když se ve videu mluví rychle, nebo spojí slova, polykají slabiky apod.

Nouns and verbs that have the same form

In this subsection there are only 2 exercises. The first one - Exercise 6 - will teach you the relevant vocabulary and the other one - Exercise 7 - will practise these words.

V této podkapitole jsou jen dvě cvičení. První - Exercise 6 - vás naučí relevantní slovíčka a to druhé - Exercise 7 -  tato slovíčka procvičí.

Talking about weather

The focus here is the weather. There is one exercise which will teach/practise. Before you open the exercise, have a look at the dictionary (see the link below).

Hlavní téma zde je počasí. Máte tu jen jedno cvičení, které má za úkol naučit a posléze procvičit. Před tím, než si cvičení otevřete, podívejte se na slovníček (viz odkaz níže).

Talking about likes and dislikes

Once again we are returning to likes and dislikes and how to express them. There is an exercise to practise the vocabulary (you actually know this already from the video on free-time activities) and then there is a "page" where you have some explanation.

Opět se vracíme k vyjádření "likes" a "dislikes". Naleznete tu jedno cvičení, ve kterém si slovní zásobu procvičíte (vlastně už ji znáte z videa k volnočasovým aktivitám) a poté je zde "stránka", kde naleznete vysvětlení.

Household objects

For the vocabulary on the houshold objects download (ideally print) the handout with preprepared words from the video which you are going to watch. Complete the handout with translations into your language and learn the vocabulary.

Ke slovní zásobě z oblasti domácnost si stáhněte (ideálně vytiskněte) handout s předpřipravenými slovíčky z videa, na které se budet dívat. Doplňte si slovíčka ve svém jazyce a naučte se je.

Advice and Tips - Understanding Sentences with Missing Words

The Advice and Tips this time look into the situations in which there are missing words in a sentence and we still understand. Open the page with material from the textbook and a recording with explanations.

Rady a tipy se tentokrát zaměřují na situace, ve kterých ve větách chybí slova a přesto rozumíme. Otevřete si stránku s materiálem z učebnice a nahrávkou s vysvětlením.

University Life - Asking for and Giving Directions

Everybody sooner or later needs to ask for (and understand) or give directions. Therefore, this time we are going to focus on the vocabulary related to this topic. At first have a look at the handout: "Asking for and Giving Directions - Handout with materials to work with", print it ideally, so that you can work with it during the following exercise. Then procede to the individual exercises (they include a lot of listening) - Exercise 10 (practice of the vocabulary) and Exercise 11 (writining)

Každý se dříve či později potřebuje dotázat na cestu (a rozumět) a nebo naopak ji někomu jinému popsat. Proto se tentokrát zaměříme na slovní zásobu, která se k tomuto tématu vztahuje. Nejprve se podívejte na pracovní list: "Asking for and Giving Directions - Handout with materials to work with", ideálně si jej vytiskěnte, abyste mohli pracovat v průběhu následujících cvičení. Poté přejděte ke cvičením (obsahují hodně poslechu) - Exercise 10 (procvičení slovní zásoby) a Exercise 11 (psaní).

For the online consultation hours prepare the following materials. You can either print them, if you prefer working with paper version, or if you feel fine with the electronic version, you do not need to print. However, bear in mind that you will be working online which can complicate the work with e-version of the copy.

Buď si je můžete vytisknout, pokud se vám lépe pracuje s papírovou verzí, nebo pokud se cítíte jistí v práci s elektronickou verzí, tisknout nemusíte.
